RAW STOCK©
CELEBRATING CINEMA of COLOR
CINCINNATI
April 2-5, 2009
RAW STOCK© - Celebrating Cinema of Color - Cincinnati, is a film festival celebrating the rich, diverse community of
Cincinnati/Tri-state area independent filmmakers of color and based out of the Cincinnati Museum Center in Union Terminal.
RAW STOCK© recognizes the need for the following:
* A permanent, annual event focusing long needed attention on the multitude of film/video artists of color within the
Cincinnati/Tri-State area;
* A need for these artists and their respective communities to come together under one umbrella exploring and celebrating
differences and similarities through education based screenings and discussions;
* A vehicle for direct communication and collaboration between area multi-ethnic communities (Black American, Asian,
Hispanic, Indigenous American, etc.), the educational, business, and arts communities as well as the general public;
* An event focusing a positive light on the collective, artistic, multi-faceted richness that is Cincinnati and the
Tri-state area.
A theme-based, non-competitive, invitation only film festival, RAW STOCK© is an initiative dedicated to the exhibition
and promotion of multi-cultural media arts. Films are chosen based on an annual theme as the guide. Through this process,
new as well as previously limited view films are considered for screening to an audience who more than likely would not have
a chance to see them. These films are the impetus for inter-community dialogue with each screening followed by a discussion
featuring at best, the filmmaker or at the very least, scholars and others who can help place the works in proper context.
Ultimately the most qualified independent narrative, documentary, experimental & animated films are exhibited.
