With a screening of MIDNIGHT RAMBLE providing the educational backdrop, Ms. Thomas fields the
many questions which arise and discusses the impact race movies have had on our history as Black Americans, and how that impact
still effects us today. Additionally, she discusses specifics pertaining to the history, how's, why's, and wherefores of producing
MIDNIGHT RAMBLE; the current state of affairs in Black filmmaking including the politics of filmmaking
regarding the control issue - from the creation of product to distribution & theater ownership.
Available for booking, program length is approximately 1 1/2 - 2 hours and includes information and a very lively discussion.
Audiences come away with a new sense of empowerment and appreciation of the significant contributions made by Black Americans
in the film industry. Additionally, classes are also available which include screenings of several exerpts from early race
films and shorts from contemporary, independent Black filmmakers. Class cheduling may be arranged at the time of screening
scheduling.
